Ugarte y Loyola informs of judicial, administrative, spiritual, economic, and defensive conditions in Sonora and Nueva Vizcaya. Notes problems in judicial branch including inexperience of secondary judges; lack of prisons, lawyers to consult with, and scribes to handle judicial proceedings; costs of prisons, paper, mail, etc.. Reports (f.30) of robberies and murders committed by Apaches and others, including bands of Taraumaras escaped from their mission. Proposed creation of a high court (f. 31.5). Discussion of founding capital city of 6 provincias (f. 32.5) and its relation to comandante general's residence and site of high court. Most advantageous site would be in San Bartholome Valley. Salt production and prices (f. 34). Report (35.5) that spiritual of gospel deeply affected. Summary
Letters to Corbalan regarding Neve's papers and receipt of goods received and price paid, and attempts to distinguish Neve's belongings from those of Cavallero de Croix. Medina to Galindo Navarro regarding receipt of copy of Neve's will and plans for making inventories and auction. Corbalan to Galindo Navarro Corbalan's being chosen as executor of Neve's will and duties transactions; commissions. Dongo to Galindo Navarro regarding selection of Neve's executors and news of Neve's death. Autos concerning choice of executors and plans for auction, Corbalan is organizing auction in Arispe; 7 receipts for purchases by Neve presented by Fernandes, and paid by executors as stipulated in will, including payment for mules stolen by Apaches, and payment to doctor. Account of auction of Neve's belonging (household goods, clothing, weapons, livestock), with buyer and purchase price provided for each item conducted by Fernandes; autos attest that auction was carried out by Fernandes according to request in will. Summary
General account of Neve's wealth compiled by Corbalan including liquid assets, salaries, and account of Neve's expenses owned to various individuals; salary of Neve with deductions for Monte Pio, Invalidos, Media anata, and conduccion a Espana. Account of transport costs for goods bought from Neve's estate (receipt of muleteer). Account of Neve's expenses, costs of food items and household goods bought and services provided (carpentry, transportation, laundry); Series of receipts of money paid out by Neve's executors and funds deposited in Rosario treasury. Neve's widow prohibited from receiving the sum of inheritance Neve indicated in his will. List of gun powder and household goods for sale left at Neve's hacienda by Croix. Dongo and Corbalan correspond regarding freeing Neve's funds to pay Neve's debts, including debt to late doctor sales. Medina's letter introduces inventories and auction sales of Neve's belongings. Autos by Galindo Navarro regarding Neve's executors and funds they administered. Corbalan relates to virrey that he has paid the heirs of Neve's doctor and describes transactions of Neve's wealth liquidated through auction; virrey(?) Acknowledges receipt of letter. Summary
Concerns inventories of Neve's belongings and carrying out of clauses in Neve's will. Corbalna and Rengel working on gathering wealth and delivering it to Dongo. Rengel working on inventory of belongings at Neve's hacienda del Carmen. Accounting of public auction of Neve's belongings from hacienda del Carmen giving sale price of objects, and accounting of expenses to doctors, funeral costs, masses, etc. Request that Salas be paid for medical services to Neve. Copy of Neve's will including debts owed, inventory of silver belongings, heirs (ff. 71 - 82). Galindo Navarro to Medino concerning carrying out will, auction of belongings, inventory of Neve's papers, and keys to governor's office. Lengthy inventory of Neve's belongings by room prepared by Corbalan and signed by witnesses, provides origin of many of the clothing and food items, and peso value placed on each item, and list of items sold in auction including price and buyer's name (ff 86 - 104). Summary
Concerns inventory of Neve's belongings and papers, and explanation of what to do with belongings according to testament, executor Dongo has found it difficult to sell many of Neve's belongings. List of contents of documents concerning Neve's testament and Dongo's responsibilities towards it. Index of reports and correspondence making up expediente concerning testament of Neve, and reports by Neve's executor Dongo. Testimony that will of Neve is being carried out. Neve's widow to receive third of his wealth, but she is also dead. Inventory made of Neve's belongings; 16000 pesos of Neve's wealth in Plata doble to go to the Cadiz Casa de vienes de difuntos--receipt included from Navio San Felipe at San Juan de Ulua. Copy of Neve's will, written while gravely ill, includes request for masses for his Soul, list of his debts and how they should be paid, list of silver and gold objects, assignment of Dongo and Corbalan in charge of his wealth and salary owed, list of debts owned to him to be collected and given to the poor, instructions about Croix's stored belongings, and other various instructions; Dongo and Escovosa named as his executors and his wife, Sister, and nephew named as heirs, but with provisions for others in case they are dead.
