Letters from Aguero to authorities in Guadalajara concerning fine of 1000 pesos supposedly imposed on him for referring to Arangoiti as oydor fiscal instead of Sr. Oydor fiscal. Actual reason for fine is Aguero's refusal of Pasage to Arangoiti. The fine is cancelled by virrey Croix. (T. Kahana, August 1988)

Discourse from Lumbreras, commandant of presidio San Carlos de Buenavista to marques de Croix concerning mistreatment of Indians at hands of fray Francisco Cordon. In his letter, Lumbreras complains that Indians of his jurisdiction cannot tend their fields due to labor required of them by fray Cordon in construction of mission church. Such punishment is appropriate, how and by whom it is to be meted out; travel restrictions for Indians; relationship between military authority (comandante presidial) and Indian civil authority (gobernador y Alcalde) at Buenavista. Also included are Cordon's reply to these accusations, and virrey's subsequent response. (J. H. Ochs, July 1987)

Sending troops to Texas and Coahuila. Ff. 216-217 report removal of cadete Bernal from Fronteras for repeated thefts; because of relationship to de Anza, lesser punishment given by stationing him in Manila. Letters from Nava to virrey concerning military promotions. Bernardino is designated lieutenant to segunda compania volante; Rodriguez is designated Alferez to presidio de aguafuerte. Saenz, Pacheco and Alvarez are sent to peninsula de California as prisoners because they are said to have killed two Indians Apaches in peace. Because a conflict between Mier y Trespalacios and del Hierro an official a statement is made by which dependents of la Renta del Tabaco are declared as having civil privileges (gozan de fuero).
