Ff. 0383 - 0392 concern the retirement benefits of Lacumba being discounted by the amount that he owes the compania de Laredo, half of his salary; recalculation of the amount that Lacumba actually owes; Calleja responds to the two previous letters; document that traces the subject discussed, includes detailed financial information on how the amount was arrived at. Additional documentation on the subject of the abilitado's calculations; ff. 0393 concerns Farias' petition to contract marriage; ff. 0394 concerns the accounts that deal with gifts made to Indians supplied from the funds of primera and tercera compania volantes; ff. 0395-0398 concerns the case formed against Garza for revoltoso y seductor de los indios, gives el gato as nickname of Garza; Felix Calleja Lets Yturrigaray know that as soon as he receives the proper paperwork he will have the prisoner Garza transferred; ff. 0399 concerns the case formed against Castillo because of his treatment of his wife Garcia, document refers to relevant code that is being used in judicial proceeding, this code is apparently from one used in Cuba; ff. 0400-0401 concerns documentation ordered by Mosquera on matter of death of Ixart. Partial index of letters and documents included in this Series; a document titled relacion de las cedulas de Retiro o imbalidos with a list of personnel who are being discharged either because of retirement or invalid status, gives names, class and company; letter from inspector general acknowledging receipt of said relacion; out of the 64 sets of documents included in the relacion mentioned 58 were sent to the comandante general and 6 were sent to the subinspector general because they were part of the Provincia de Celaya. Arredondo replaces Juanicotena with Lopez as governor of the Colonia de Nuebo Santander because of Juanicotena's illness; index of letters in this sequence; Calleja approves personnel change; questions put forth on issue of Lopez being entitled to property pertaining to his post since he will be acting as an interim governor only, and similar question pertaining to salary; administrative letter from Lopez to Arredondo dealing with shipment of tobacco received from factory in Veracruz; Cisneros relates to Arredondo incident in which he had travel restrictions placed upon his person in connection wit goods belonging to him that were seized, names Lopez and alcalde of Marina as responsible; Lopez responds in detail to accusation that he treated Cisneros unjustly in matter of the seizure of his goods, noncompliance with directive sent through Aguado, and travel restriction declared by alcalde of Marina; letter from Lopez to Arredondo protesting Guerra's involvement in this matter insofar as he is a military official and he should not have involved himself in a purely civil matter; gobernador can only use a person of sargent rank or lower to be his scribe on military matters and Guerra as military officer receiving salary from the king should not be involved in civil matters - should be sent immediately to Aguayo where he is needed in the secretaria'; Arredondo threatens Lopez if he does not promptly comply with order to send Guerra, mentions possible judicial proceedings against Lopez by Cisneros in matter of seizure of goods and detention; letter from Arredondo giving Juanicotena leave from his duties as governor of Nuebo Santander; Lopez interprets Arredonda's sending him suddenly to Texas as an affront and asks the virrey that he be allowed to go to San Luis Potosi. Letters concerning the early retirement of Perez, ship carpenter in Loreto. After 29 years with the military he asks to retire because of bad sight. One year after he writes petition, he gets an answer refusing early retirement and recommending he wait until he fulfills his 30 years of enlistment. Following letters are about pay he should get as invalido. Letters about Pascual Montejano who is in similar situation. Document follows concerning military situation of enlisted men in Loreto. Considerations of the tribunal in which both Perez and Montejano are granted their requests seven years later. Final summary of paperwork regarding these two Cases. (T. Kahana, July 1989)

Letters from gobernador de Nuevo Santander for virrey informing him of the need for better weapons, recommending sending Indian prisoners to Havana because they are escaping to easily from the prison of San Juan de Ulua. Fiscales agree but suggest puerto Rico. Gobernador of Chihuahua requests weapons. Gobernador from Veracruz answers virrey that he will send the Indians to Havana. Contains accounts of Pedro Galaz's actions during war with Apaches in Sonora with respect to his request for proper restitution in form of payment or to be named capitan de Caballeria; includes statement of others attesting to age of Galaz and history of serious illness; suggestions for placement of Galaz in proper job such as office of tobacco duties; includes description of injury sustained due to fall from horse in battle - groin and testicular Pain.
