Military Retirement

Concerns documentation of invalid status of various soldiers. Case brought against Grimaldi for insulting Roldan. Concerns retirement due to invalid status in Nueva Vizcaya companies, listing rank, name, company, destination of each applicant. Chacon requests gubernatorial salary to be paid him until he is able to leave Mexico for Spain. The ports are closed due to war. Vildosola and Lasso support Chacon's petition to the viceroy of the obligatory delay since his influence could expedite settlement. Military governors are also entitled to 12 salary payments for travel back to Spain. The royal warrant of April 16, 1792 settled the question of payment. (E. Wilson, November 1989)

Vague, evasive letters concerning some point of political scandal, of which Alencaster was apparently the subject. Ff.299-310 are letter by Alencaster in noisy protest of whatever he is accused of, claiming malicious intent by his superiors to disgrace him and influence popolus against him in election (unspecified; Manrrique won). Last two folios are notices of retirement of Vidal de Lorca, Bustillo. (A. Dean, may 1990)
