Ff. 0383 - 0392 concern the retirement benefits of Lacumba being discounted by the amount that he owes the compania de Laredo, half of his salary; recalculation of the amount that Lacumba actually owes; Calleja responds to the two previous letters; document that traces the subject discussed, includes detailed financial information on how the amount was arrived at. Additional documentation on the subject of the abilitado's calculations; ff. 0393 concerns Farias' petition to contract marriage; ff. 0394 concerns the accounts that deal with gifts made to Indians supplied from the funds of primera and tercera compania volantes; ff. 0395-0398 concerns the case formed against Garza for revoltoso y seductor de los indios, gives el gato as nickname of Garza; Felix Calleja Lets Yturrigaray know that as soon as he receives the proper paperwork he will have the prisoner Garza transferred; ff. 0399 concerns the case formed against Castillo because of his treatment of his wife Garcia, document refers to relevant code that is being used in judicial proceeding, this code is apparently from one used in Cuba; ff. 0400-0401 concerns documentation ordered by Mosquera on matter of death of Ixart. Ff. 352-354 discusses the shipment of arms to Leon and the reimbursement sought by a governor, arms are to arm the militia, describes the role that the intendent of San Luis Potosi has in militia in Nuevo Reyno de Leon subsequent to military inspection of Calleja, mentions submitting the request for armaments to the real tribunal and their correspondence back; folios 358-362 weapons sent to the governor of Nuevo Reyno de Leon in 1774; letter asking if real hacienda has been reimbursed for the costs of the armaments mentioned above. Partial index of letters and documents included in this Series; a document titled relacion de las cedulas de Retiro o imbalidos with a list of personnel who are being discharged either because of retirement or invalid status, gives names, class and company; letter from inspector general acknowledging receipt of said relacion; out of the 64 sets of documents included in the relacion mentioned 58 were sent to the comandante general and 6 were sent to the subinspector general because they were part of the Provincia de Celaya. Letter written on behalf of Garcia de Texada who seeks recompensation for monies spent in the course of his duties; Garcia de Texada writes a letter stating the need to be compensated for travel costs and administrative costs associated with his job; letter from the fiscal de real hacienda denying the petition for recompensation. Tax on sales to be used to aid expedition sale of cards (4 real tax) and tobacco; tobacco to be packaged according to provisions. Problems among capitans affecting jurisdiction of governor over the vecinos of their presidios, capitans complain they do not have control of troops to fight enemy invasions, waiting for license to do away with all Indians who do not speak Spanish; Corbalan to Croix regarding prohibition of alcohol, complains that Mescal prohibited and not even found for medicinal use, difficulty aquiring caldos de Castilla, request that some be allowed to produce Mescal; Croix responds that the Mescal factory and use of the drink must be abolished. Pimas described cooperating in robbery with rebel Indians--Corbalan describes their tactics in escaping from troops. Corbalan sends inspection reports on Varios military groups and fiscal affairs of the expedition; lack of funds and currency. Mesia writes Corbalan about his opinion of worth of two companias volantes in Guaymas. Notification of recipients of promotions within companias volantes; discussion of provision of supplies to expedition. Corbalan will publish vandos about establishment of lottery. Corbalan to Croix regarding Alamos treasurer, and treasury instruccion written by Belena; additions to the instruccion provided which concern debtors, control of treasury keys, papel sellado, division of land among employees, collecting tribute, and cost of treasury office supplies. According to vandos, use of Mescal prohibited, and Corbalan will pass orders relating alcohol use to judges. Corbalan thanks Croix for position as governor; Belena's request of approval of chapter of instruction for directing Alamos treasury regarding return of silver and gold approved by Corvalan. Accounting of gold and silver consigned to Echeveste for processing. Report heavy rains ruining crops and mill in Horcasitas, and loss of wheat destined for troops. Request for funds for Sonora expedition and for the Alamos treasury; viceroy informs Corbalan of 4% Alcabala charge; receipt of vandos and description of their contents, including banishment of Jesuits. Echeverte provided with 67o357 pesos and supplies for the expedition, and request for more funds. Accounting of amounts of iron at Alamos factoria and its value. Corbalan informs Croix that he is sending documents on military Inspections of troops to be sent to the expedition, as well as documents on military expenses. Viceroy to Corbalan regarding prohibition of Indian use of alcohol, Indian excesses (robbery, insults) and need for punishment. Delivery of silver late, and discussion of availability of quicksilver. Corbalan informs Croix that he sent troop Inspections and Croix responds that he has received them. Corbalan also lists monthly salaries of military personnel and Croix replies that he knows about the changes of salaries. Corbalan acknowledges merits of two officials to serve virrey. Croix relays to Corbalan requests for sick leaves for several persons. Croix appoints Velena as interim governor; Corbalan congratulates Croix on promotion; Corbalan has received letters from governor of California and commissioner of Loreto regarding need of food supplies there and an account of goods for the Monterey military expedition. Thirty pages concerning Nava's nomination to comandante de las provincias de Poniente. letter from virrey giving Nava command of provincias in place of Ugarte, with detailed information of situation he will find in provincias; advice concerning maintenance of peace with Indians, character of gobernadores; instructions from Galvez for dealing with Indians in war or peace. Nava agrees to nomination, requests from virrey economic support to succeed in pacification of Indians. Further detailed instructions from virrey on how to manage financial situation; also informs Nava that Castro has been appointed comandante de provincias de oriente by king, that Nava should meet Castro in Monclova.
