Cumanches are maintaining peace with Spanish; but Lipanes and Cumanches have not tried to make peace with each other. Four Indians from Tamaulipa Oriental approach justicia de Guemes to request peace. Two long letters discuss very generally how bellicose or peaceful several tribes are, their locations, who has dealt with them, how successfully. Concerns cattle runs (Ganado Mesteno) in province of Texas; government's prohibiting of these runs without express permission due to property damage, looting and Indian raids that followed; listed are laws regulating times of cattle runs in region, limiting herd sizes and promoting killing of wolves and Coyotes that killed Calves. Very interesting copies of correspondence between Salcedo and Bonavia regarding defense of land bordering with U.s. And much discussion of U.s. Military potential and mention of some U.s. aggression; at core of correspondence is concern that Spanish military not powerful or well organized enough to defend north provinces against americans; discussion of fidelity of Indians shifting to americans due to corruption by merchants; much discussion of logistics, statistics, hypothetical situations; it is agreed that artilleria volante desperately needed among 154, 158, 160-163. Series of letters and diarios regarding Comanche hostilities and border defense in Texas; discussion of border defense requirements include building new cuartel and expenses involved, more arms also needed; diarios of military pursuit of Comanches give accounts of Indians being killed (including one woman), and pursuit and tracking of Indians, made difficult by heavy rains; interesting though jumbled. Documents primarily concerning Comanche raids and subsequent military pursuit of Comanches, including detailed accounts of pursuit in letter and diary form; accounts of what exactly Comanches did, I.e. murder, mutilations and Robos; Bustamante is wounded in pursuit of Indians, tracks are lost due to rain; Indian hostility blamed on French and anglos; brief discussion of shortage of arms along borders, and list of supplies suggested; very interesting documents. List of 20 suggestions for handling the religious construction halted by Llanos y Valdes (bishop) before of his death, para averiguar la realidad. the Author, unnamed, thought it important to list and interpret these for the recipient of this information. The listing is followed by such an interpretation. The author hoped for a response from the recipient, named only as vuestro Senor Dean y Cavildo de la Santa Yglesia del Nuevo Reyno de Leon. the discussion is the same as it has been why the bishop halted the construction; the salary paid to the architect; in general, the economics of the matter; the fact that the bishop independently decided to move the episcopal seat to Saltillo (it is pointed out that the route from Monterrey to Saltillo, which would be taken to move the construction materials, went over the Sierra Madres and past indios barbaros); that he failed to give sacraments to many including some who died without receiving them; etc. Also, mention is made of the bishop using the threat of excommunication in Cases which the author considered trivial y de ninguna importancia (number 8 in the informe, ff.179) and he mentioned the excommunication of Blanco (number 9, ff.179). Ff.183 contains list of goods received by Urgarte y Bungoa from Llanos y Valdes, the bishop whom the controversy surrounds, including priests clothing and religious items (chalice, mass book, etc).
