Sixty two Indians (uo Sibolas; 30 Nortenos, and 19 Cholomes) enter the presidio asking for missionaries and friendly relations. They state that they are on friendly terms with the Tarahumaras and the Apaches (nations that border their lands). They want to work part of the year at Conchos in return for supplies because their agricultural yield is low. Information is given on their location and agricultural practices. (R. Perez) (1977)

Summary
Gobernador Quigue and Indian naturales of Curcurpe bring suit against Francisco Montes, alias "el Pintor," a Pima Indian who married a Cucurpe woman, annexed much land around a small plot she owned north of Pueblo, and managed to win control of Cucurpe's source of irrigation water. El Pintor accused of: 1) embargoing water, thereby causing many fields in Cucurpe to fail; 2) engaging in the malas costumbres de sacar vino (bacanora?), getting many Indians drunk; 3) assaulting padre Luis Velarde, causing el Pintor to be fugitive in Pimeria Alta before he came to Cucurpe. When asked by a priest to stop making vino, el Pintor replied that "cuando todos lo dexaran lo dexaria el." Much information on land tenure, title registration, etc. Reference to estancia del padre quino 4 leagues upriver from Cucurpe. Gobernador Alday charges Coaguileno Indians of Santa Rosa de Nadadores with rebellion and apostasy, claiming they and their gobernador, Don Pablo- 1) left their mission; 2) incited Cocoyomes to rebellion; 3) Allied themselves with Coaguilenos at Cinco Senores led by Don Pablo's Brother Don Francisco, as well as Cabesas at Parras; 4) committed murders and robberies, including attack on Monclova in 1721. Sarmiento, appointed Juez comisario by Alday, interrogates the Nadadores Coaguilenos, imprisoned in Parral jail. Don Pablo informs him Coaguilenos fled Nadadores because of trouble at Coaguila presidio. Alday recommends Indian prisoners be deported. Preparations for campaign against hostile Cocoyome, Coaguileno Indians involving forces from Mapimi, Gallo, Cerrogordo, Conchos presidios, Tepeguan and Tlascalteco Indian auxiliaries, and vecinos from Spanish communities. Campaign rosters included. Some prisoners taken and interrogated, including Cocoyome leader Juan de Lomas. Lomas blames Coaguilenos for all the robberies and murders. Frequent references to the imprisonment of Coaguileno community of Cinco Senores Pueblo. Alday recommends prisoners be deported to Mexico. Good summary document by Alday 0489a-0492b. After Balthasar Rancho assures gobernador Alday Tarahumaras not in rebellion, he describes unrest, especially in pueblos of Papigochi and Tomochic caused by Tarahumara-Pima Indian named Stanislao, who id undermining authority of Tarahumara gobernador Sebastian, committing other seditions acts, attempting to form own Pueblo with followers from other Tarahumara villages and mugeres de Mala Vida y comunes. Summary
Coaguileno Indian community (37 men, 45 women, 15 muchachos) living for last seven years with Babosarigame Indians at Cinco Senores Pueblo imprisoned at Pasaje presidio to prevent them from joining their parientes, another Coaguileno group settled at Santa Rosa de Hadadores Pueblo in Coahuila, in rebellion. Santa Rosa Coaguileno attack on Parras Pueblo described. Preparations for campaign involving 80 presidial soldiers, 100 Indian auxiliaries noted. List of soldiers, Indian auxiliaries mustered at Gallo presidio included. Causa criminal instituted against Cinco Senores Coaguilenos and their Cabeza allies. Babosarigame Indians from Cinco Senores interrogated about Cinco Senores Coaguileno participation in revolt. Gobernador Alday informed that Cinco Senores Coaguilenos had not cultivated their fields and had killed their oxen because they intended to join uprising. Acoclame, Cocoyome participation in uprising noted as well. Alday finally recommends that Indian prisoners be deported a las provincias de Nueva Espana Tan distantes so they can't cause further trouble. Good summary document by Alday 0352a-0354a.
