Petition brought by brothers and uncles of the girl to cause the marriage to not be allowed. The reasons range from age, the girl was 13, lack of knowledge of christianity, and that the Indian was beneath the girls station. She was a Mulatto. The controversy ends with a mutual agreement to annul the contract as the Indian has found another bride and the girl has stated she no longer wishes to marry. (D. Coates) (1979)

Beitia, an indio, and Figueroa, a Negro, went to a dance at the house of Primero. Figueroa was dancing with Primero's Sister (Mestiza) when Irineo Primero (Santiago's Brother) told him to stop that he didn't want his Sister dancing with a Negro. A fight ensued resulting in Beitia being stabbed by Santiago. Santiago is remanded to military jurisdiction for punishment. (R. Perez) (1977)
