Summary
A group of Apaches de Paz under chief Chiquito rebel near Bacoachi. Loyal groups aid Spaniards in punishing them. These three letters tell also of campaigns in Sonora and near El Paso using Indian auxiliaries. There is information on chiefs, rancherias and a very interesting description of some rebel Apache medicine men performing ceremonies from a leather bag full of dolls and idols made of feathers. Much of this same volume, written from El Paso in 1787-8. (T. Naylor, 1977) and (D.uhlman, 1988)

Arrival of guns to Veracruz and transportation of supplies to presidios in Californias. criminal causes against Dominguez for murder, autos against marquez, Aquino and maria Rita de fuente accused of highway robberies and being infieles and homicidas, two Indian women for murder and also, accussations of contraband in Nachitoches by a settler of area. Military process against three soldiers from Loreto for having raped two Young girls. Request of Montepio military for widows by Croix. Various documents on disturbance of the peace. Request for teachers from Spain to guide Indians in the cultivation and process of linen. Burning of presidio Orcoquisa and establishment of new settlements in Coaguila. Payment of 10 and 5 pesos respectively by claimants of ownership of mules and horses recovered by military personnel set by viceroy. Documents relating to military appointments civil appointments and life in general within Provincias Internas. Most viceroy by Croix for two thousand men to bring peace to provincias, documents against capitan Barrios and his removal, naming of capellanes to presidios, requests of salary advancements from religious personnel and military personnel. Also, total commercial freedom in Americas with cultivation, collection and transportation of pepper and Tabasco to Spain, prohibiting Duran and Chavez to travel to Spain again without first requesting viceroy's permission, orders to transfer Queipo to Spain to live with wife, issuance of new coined money to Cajas reales and lists of personnel who have finished their service and retired due to injuries and insanity. Letters from viceroy to Croix in reference to various affairs within Provincias Internas. Most prominent letters regarding pearl fishing, percentages to be Charged as Alcavalas to gold mined in New Spain and when gold enters Spain. Formation of offices and tribunal de minerias, salaries for Franciscans to be capellanes of presidios in prov. Internas, promotions of military personnel, also, bankruptcy of heads of presidios and companias volantes as they have been paying out of their own pocket salaries for personnel and expenses for food supplies and arm supplies.
