Summary
Cabello favours Linares over Santa Rosa because there are hostile Indians in Santa Rosa area. Referring to documents concerning the question (Croix to Cabello August 6, 1779), he states that there is enough water and fertile soil in Linares area as well as enough forests to maintain a sizeable population. He mentions that there are already 250 people at Linares. He also states that the issue is a very controversial one with the public. (R. Graham) (1979)

Summary
Fray Cavallero sends 80 Head of lettuce to Manrrique, with respects to his wife, who is quite partial to vegetables. His garden did not do so well this year, explains the fray, because of late frosts in April, may and even in June. The grapes also have not ripened satisfactorily; but the melons should turn out fine. The fray requests two peines of cheese, to be sent with the Porter. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)

Relocation of include - establishment of towns, workshops, mills with suggestions on where to locate, what to produce, what to teach Indians. Military service for residents of Nueva California.
