Numero 15 concerns battle between Piquete of soldiers and Camotero Indians; soldiers attempt to capture Camoteros, who resist with bow and arrow, killing 2 horses and a soldier; soldiers kill 2 Indians; find 2 Canoas, which governor decides they should keep, as soldiers need to cross River often; fiscal reminds governor that one-quarter of value of confiscated goods owed; governor responds saying Canoas do not appear Indian-made, besides are not serviceable, believes they are from shipwrecked 'san Judas Fadeo', wine and aguardiente also found, but governor argues it is weak and of little value. In 16, Bocio, widow of late governor, requests monthly pension of 20 reales; matter discussed among fiscales, approved. Numero 17 includes accounts of expenditures incurred while transporting Collera of Meco Indians to Mexico City; money from various sources; terms of some money lent discussed among fiscales. Concerns condition of presidios of Nueva Vizcaya; notes visit of bishop to various places; provincial depopulation; geography; livestock; vegetation; daily life of soldiers; detachments of los Alamos and Mapimi; private armed forces and civil militia; distances between presidios; troop strengths, arms and equipment and fiscal administration. Bishop urges that frontier cavalry be converted into infantry to increase number of fighting men available and advocates formation of new presidios. Tamaron's reflections on war provide many important insights into presidial defense casting special light on pre-1772 reglamento period. (J. Williams, may 1987)

Summary
Administrative documents primarily from governador Barri to virrey. Ff 20 contains interesting table of Indian hostilities from 1771-1776; lists numbers of dead and persons taken captive, ranches and haciendas depopulated, and cattle robbed from various administrative units of Nueva Vizcaya. Ff 54 contains a table of wine and aguardiente production in some jurisdictions. Many documents deal with conduct of prisoners to capital and expenses prisoners had to pay for said conduct. Teniente Yarto informed of Barri's death in February, 1784, and continues on as interim governor. August, 1784 Velazquez accepts governorship. (D. Marksz, March 1987).
