After death of Zumaran, Orozco named master Armorer for Nueva Vizcaya. Debate on whether perote contract (for manufacture) should go to Orozco or Puche. Detailed description of Lascano's behavior and his exile from los Olivos. Letter regarding Cuellar's petition for money promised by Durango for expedition. Discussion of defective artillery which delays expediton. Documents by cabildo dealing with supply, auction, price and distribution of sheep in Chihuahua -money from sale of sheep to be used to develop water supply. nomination of three candidates to replace Cuellar as governor of Tarahumara and Tepehuan while Cuellar goes away on expedition. Series of documents concerning retirements of military officials. Request of military weaponry for presidios (list includes ammunition, cannons, shotguns, birolas, Espadas...). Approval for a chaplain for Terrenate. Diaries sent to viceroy on expedition to Rio Colorado and Gila; new Indians are found; prisoners are taken; tobacco is requested to deter soldiers from desertion. Cancio reports on state of affairs and activities at Santa Rosa presidio. Discusses problems with weapons and their inadequacy in battle, problems with enlistments and quality of soldiers, and charges against Rabago made by Alderete. Uniform and weapon supply list of items requested from Mexico (f.130). Cancio provides detailed report on review he made of conditions of troops, weapons, fighting ability, number of horses, uniforms and other supplies (ff. 131-132). In other letters reports on number of soldiers from presidio assigned to nearby places and missions, and notes difficulty in getting reports to viceroy due to distance. Ff. 138-139 contains letters from Cancio about his trip to Santa Rosa written at real de Charcas and Saltillo. Discusses condition of roads, Weather, and number of days until he reaches destination. Some notes from on his trip, his reports back on situation at presidio, and Indian activities in area of presidio.
