A series of letters that discuss: appointments by Gobernador Bucareli of Canales, Valles, and Concha to alferez and alcalde ordinario, alcalde ordinario ordinario, and alcalde ordinario respectively; the death of Jesus Lacedor when he became lost in the fields on December 22, 1779 and need for quadruplication of paperwork in order to certify his death administratively; trip being made by Melchor de Lorca to the capital to see Bucareli in order to defend his honor; relieving Melchor de Lorca as gobernador and installing Gonzales Santianez; Vidal de Lorca defending his honor and presenting authorized certification for his sake and the sake of his children; receipt of above letter and certifications (not included) and their submittal to the royal auditor; authority given to Verridi to relieve Vidal de Lorca of his duties and asks for Vidal de Lorca's peaceful cooperation. Summary
A Series of letters between Vaamonde and the virrey out an execution when in his area there was no official execution by using a Former Negro slave to perform the execution, orders for Vaamonde to travel to Punto de Lamparos, decree prohibiting Indians from leaving their homes unless they have necessary papers from district judge, parrish priest, or minister of documents, Vaamonde's deteriorating health during trip to Punto de lamparaos and subsequent rehabilitation in saltilo, compliance with an order to determine status of any peace initiatives with Indians of the area, the terms of any peace agreements and manner in which Indians have abided by said agreements, complying with order to make Nava inspector in addition to his current rank as comandante general and brigadier. Brief correspondence, intermitant since intendente is inspection delayed due to Corbalan's illness; Dean of real Audiencia advises that Antelo is fugitive dressed in Robes of a Religioso fernandino, viceroy orders Antelo's arrest; irrigation Canal for Seris; report on pearl fishing; budget projection requested for rebuilding churches at Charay and Suaqui; questions over intendente's salary since June 1770, including military expedition; Croix relates Seri uprising. F. 396 is good summary of contents since it is representationes from Corbalan to viceroy for February 6, 1777 to July 30, 1778. Alcabala tax on gold; Corbalan reports that while traveling he received no Superior orders from viceroy; intendente explains why he returned to Alamos, instead of Arizpe, governor of Sonora detained in Chihuahua. Garavito makes inventory of personnel and placing of mines under presidial control, tightening of troop discipline, reconstruction of conduits to bring water to presidios, upgrading of mail service, and forcing of unoccupied Indians to provide labor assistance to military.
