Ff.408-409 Pardo complains of his abject poverty due to cessation or delay of salary. Ff.410-420 concern real Orden de 16 de Mayo de 1785 in reference to replacing older officers with Younger; includes several documents and copies of older documents about implementation of this act. Ff.421-422 Marcos anzajo requests release of his son from prison; crime is unclear, but apparently arrest was on suspicion. Ff.423-425 concern regulation of ships approaching Altamira to prevent contraband trade; mentions Bergantin and telegrafo ships. (A. Dean, December 1989)

Concerns a complaint lodged by Serna relating to adulteress behavior of his wife; concerns the new reglamentos de presidio approved by the king and implemented by Bucareli, article related to monies set aside for troops was implemented when Durango and Alamo treasuries could not provide necessary funds, Guadalajara assets would be used, as a result of this the establishment of the paymaster's office in Chihuahua and allowing Esconsa to draw from this institution, mentions the establishment of various pagadurias and other institutions used to provide for troops. Neve attests to fact that his province produces the income enough to provide for troops, asks to be exempt from the charges made upon his area, death of neves followed by an examination of the state of revenues in the pagaduria de Arispe, administrator of revenues states that method of providing revenues to internal provinces must be found, intendent of Sonora recommends a tax to be established to preclude interesados from getting exemptions. Rangel submits two state of accounts, one that refers to consignments from Vizcaya and Mexico, and the other that refers to consignments from Sonora, only treasury from Guadalajara would be remittable. Correspondence of Loyola and the treasurer of Chihuahua follows as they demonstrate the necessity of los productos de rentas for the financial solvency needed to provide for the troops, documents show how funds were taken from different geographic locations to provide for those areas in the most need. In the note accompanying this document mention is made of a military inspection with results of retired and invalid soldiers to be provided so the real tribunal can better budget its sources; decision made to situate the paymaster's office mentioned earlier in Saltillo because of its central location, index of meetings of the junta Superior to discuss location of Pagaduria; letter describing jurisdictional problems as they relate to sending revenues to the capital, revenues coming from tobacco and excise taxes. Ff. 0402-0409 concerns a complaint by the priest Eulogio Fernandez that the horses of the military company of the area are causing damage to his lands; the intendente has ordered certain measures to be taken in relation to this matter which are not explained, letter in which virrey is told that Fernandez has been notified of the measures taken; ff. 0410 concerns the account used to distribute gifts to the Indians; ff. 0411 concerns money invested in gifts for Indians for the year 1804; ff 0412 -0416 concerns a case brought against Balli, he was arrested but died while in custody, two other people involved in crime are still in jail, since he was not formally proven guilty the goods belonging to him must be returned to his widow; ff 417-418 concerns statements made on the military service record of Baron. Ff. 0383 - 0392 concern the retirement benefits of Lacumba being discounted by the amount that he owes the compania de Laredo, half of his salary; recalculation of the amount that Lacumba actually owes; Calleja responds to the two previous letters; document that traces the subject discussed, includes detailed financial information on how the amount was arrived at. Additional documentation on the subject of the abilitado's calculations; ff. 0393 concerns Farias' petition to contract marriage; ff. 0394 concerns the accounts that deal with gifts made to Indians supplied from the funds of primera and tercera compania volantes; ff. 0395-0398 concerns the case formed against Garza for revoltoso y seductor de los indios, gives el gato as nickname of Garza; Felix Calleja Lets Yturrigaray know that as soon as he receives the proper paperwork he will have the prisoner Garza transferred; ff. 0399 concerns the case formed against Castillo because of his treatment of his wife Garcia, document refers to relevant code that is being used in judicial proceeding, this code is apparently from one used in Cuba; ff. 0400-0401 concerns documentation ordered by Mosquera on matter of death of Ixart. Ff. 352-354 discusses the shipment of arms to Leon and the reimbursement sought by a governor, arms are to arm the militia, describes the role that the intendent of San Luis Potosi has in militia in Nuevo Reyno de Leon subsequent to military inspection of Calleja, mentions submitting the request for armaments to the real tribunal and their correspondence back; folios 358-362 weapons sent to the governor of Nuevo Reyno de Leon in 1774; letter asking if real hacienda has been reimbursed for the costs of the armaments mentioned above. Letter ordering the reporting of troop strength on the first day of each month, all points to send this information to comandante general except for Laredo and Villas who will send them directly to Monterrey, also the establishment of daily diaries of occurrences; includes two documents one entitled compania and the other tronco de caballada neither of which has been filled out; document titled milicias provinciales del Nuevo Santander which includes information on uniform supply, riding gear; lette stating that while the real erario is away and captains are not on active duty they should not receive a salary since they are men of means, Arredondo is to decide what the troops are in need of; document stating troop strength and destination for third fourth and fifth companies of Nuevo Santander; letter analyzing the numbers in last document regarding horses, weapons etc, finds that a high percentage of troops are virtually useless since they have neither arms or horses, recommendation that abov mentioned should leave the militia and the saving of money associated with the decrease of total salary disbursed should be used to better equip existing troops, possibility of requesting arms from settlers for use by militia and troops.
