Lucas Salcido complains that his neighbors-Xavier Mendez, etc.- are letting their stock graze on his land and that this stock is ruining his sembradas and Ojo de Agua. The neighbors maintain that the land is not used, never was used, and should be common property anyway. Lucas Salcido and Thomas Ruiz de Avendano do not agree. The neighbors are accordingly fined 10 pesos and sentenced to eight days in jail, and told to get their stock out immediately. (P. Hayes) (1977)

Sixty two Indians (uo Sibolas; 30 Nortenos, and 19 Cholomes) enter the presidio asking for missionaries and friendly relations. They state that they are on friendly terms with the Tarahumaras and the Apaches (nations that border their lands). They want to work part of the year at Conchos in return for supplies because their agricultural yield is low. Information is given on their location and agricultural practices. (R. Perez) (1977)

Petition asking remedy for abuses by the padre, which include- inhibiting the harvest by forbidding the women to work in the fields as much as is necessary; taking too much of the yield (both of grain and of livestock); and using overly severe punishment. Testimony in a dispute between the Jesuit colegio and Bartholome de Soza over rent of land belonging to the colegio. Contains information on water rights and availability, as well as some Indian agricultural practices. (R. Perez) (1977)

The cabildo of San Phelipe el real petition the governor to do something about the scarcity of food stuffs and the resulting high prices of them, due to poor harvests. They claim they are being robbed by merchants from other areas. The governor orders prices down and then demands an inventory of grains from merchants and ranchers. Document incomplete.
