It appears that Dr. Kendell either retired to Oracle, Arizona (or perhaps just wintered in Oracle).

Electrotype Co., 1918, volume 1, page 105: The "Prescott Miner " of August 13th, 1870, says: "Bill Williams, for whom Bill Williams' Pork and Bill Williams' Mountain were called, was killed by Utes while trying to relieve the Fremont expedition which was searching for Cochetope Pass, which both Senator Benton and Colonel Fremont thought was the best pass for a railroad.
