Lau, L. Donald

Lauderdale, John Vance

Born in New York Nov 13, 1832. Post surgeon at Fort Yuma in 1868. In 1869 he became chief medical officer of the Subdistrict of Southern Arizona at Tucson. He returned to Yuma in 1870 when the Subdistrict was dissolved. He is listed in the Camp Lowell Post Returns between Aug 1869 and Aug 1870. “Considering Camp Lowell was located near the Subdistrict headquarters in Tucson, it was not unusual to be so listed…, however, he did not serve at Camp Lowell.” At the time, Henry Durant was post surgeon at Camp Lowell. Lauderdale died Jan 22, 1931 at Brooklyn, New York.

12/8/1925 Minutes of the Pima County Medical Society, 1904-1954: “The County Attorney being present by invitation as a guest of the Society spoke at some length. Dr. Davis replied, presenting the letter of Mr. P. G. Lavery stating that no representative of the County Attorney's Office had approached him relative to the prosecution of ‘Dr.’ Swank.”
