Correspondence re: civil administration and fiscal affairs. Topics include: discussion of establishment of caja real in Los Alamos and rent to be paid to owner of house where caja is to be placed; administration of tabaco, polvora, y naipes in Culiacan, Sinaloa and Fuerte; amount of tobacco needed and shipping route; request by Belena to establish estancos of vino mescal in Alamos and other jurisdictions; request denied, mescal is to continue to be prohibited (ff. 292-296); naming of Belena as intendente de provincias. Documents between Belena an viceroy regarding various issues in provinces of Sinaloa and Sonora of which inspecting of mines to control usage of gunpowder was primary issue. Also, establishment of official selling of gunpowder, tobacco and playing cards was achieved. Belena also established site for a Caja Marca due to discovery of gold in Sinaloa to assure royal fifth and usage of this monies to pay for expedition to California by visitador Galvez, purchasing and transportation of corn for presidios and families being established in such presidios. Also, documents regarding attacks by Pimas to towns and ranches, Belena gathers a small army to punish perpetrators. Letters from Gutierrez de la Riva to virrey concerning employment petition as visitador en la Renta del Tabaco. Letters from Lama, Vazquez, Bohorquez and others supporting de la Riva's petition.

Documents deal with Croix's requests to increase number of soldiers in Coahuila's presidios and formation of 2 comapanias volantes. discussion that money would be provided by rentas de arbitrios, Tabaco, Polvora, y Naypes. these administrative offices will be refunded by real Caja de Durango and San Luis Potosi. mention that a record should be kept of all monetary transactions. F.e036 is letter from Mexico regarding policy, including orders concerning collection of taxes. F.e037 is letter from Rosario to Mexico acknowledging these orders. C002 is letter concerning payment of troops, followed by Series of autos regarding contents of various royal treasuries. Some autos contain tables of accounts from 1781-1782. Ff. C005-c008 is informe concerning findings of tribunal of accounts. Ff. C009-c010 is another informe listing contents of treasuries at Arispe and Chihuahua. Mention of use of funds for military expeditions. Ff. C005-c019 are correspondence between various officials regarding tribunal of accounts dated July 1783-November 1785. F. C020 is cover sheet accompanying consulta regarding transfers of money to Chihuahua for 1788. Ff. C021-c023 are letters concerning need for supplementary funds at treasuries. Ff. C024-c032 are tables of accounts from Durango, dating from 1773 to 1787 (written in 1787). Ff. C033-c036 is letter from Chihuahua concerning needs of royal treasury. F. C037 is another such letter.
