Summary
Ezuain requests retirement with rank of teniente Coronel and salary of capitan. Service record stated. Loss of right arm in battle of Rocillo, Texas, fighting against american insurgents makes Ezuain unfit for continued military service. F. 51 details Ezuain's service in Texas and the battle of Rocillo. Both Rocillo and his doctor taken prisoner by american rebels. Bexar captured by enemies. F. 53 Garza, Ezuain's doctor, confirms Ezuain's injury and stay in Hospital and capture by americans. Elizondo testifies to Ezuain's loyal service and recommends his request to retire. F. 55 speaks of reconquest of Saltillo and campaigns against rebels. F. 56 especially noteworthy for detail of battle of Rocillo and attack by Anglo-Americans and Spanish. Other documents are testimonials from Ezuain's colleagues verifying his brave and loyal service. Last folios concern Ezuain's request of temporary license to go to Spain to visit parents. Summary
Document concerns grievances of soldiers of Nuevo Santander and company of llero who accompanied Zerna in transporting two prisoners, Murgier and Puga, to Mexico. F. 211 gives list of soldiers and orders soldiers to remain in Mexico until trial of two prisoners is completed. F. 217 is letter from one soldier, de Leon, complaining of extended stay and noting lack of adequate clothing and money for soldiers, who intended to go to Mexico and immediately return to N. Santander. More money, due to extended leave, is requested to provide for soldiers' needs. F. 222 provides list of salaries of each soldier. 250 pesos ordered sent to soldiers to aid them. F. 241 added some time later and tells of sudden death of de Leon and speaks of his having killed five Apaches in cold blood. (P. Lenz, March 1990)

Summary
Letters discussing what to do with chaingang of Indians. Vague plans for what to do with Gilenos, Mezcaleros. Discusses reasons for decreasing meat ration to Bacoachi Apaches. Mentions treasury's accounts for other rations, corn, sugar, wheat, cigarrettes, etc. Ugarte speaks of need to be just toward Apaches while making treaty. With Chiricahuas opportunity for quick victory over all Indians was lost because Spanish skimped on treaty to save a few thousand pesos. Dare not repeat that mistake. (A. Dean, April 1989)
