Summary
Documents concern an all out military campaign and very well organized raid against Nortenos and Apache Indians. Indian prisoners of the Spaniards play an important role in attacks against the Indian rancherias. Diaries of the campaign give full description of how raids were carried out. Military official in charge of the expedition requests stipends for Indian guides who proved loyal to the Spaniards. Document contains some unrelated information dealing with mission's supplies and military appointments. Brief mention of Indian language interpreters. (M. Marroquin, August 1988)

Virreynato orders detachment of troops to be relieved by another detachment; two detachments are to go to Guadalaxara in October and November. Rengel advised to liquidate estate of Neve and send it to Maria Pereyra. Dominguez to be given alcaldia in reward for valor and services. expediente being sent to excuse hazenderos of Nueva Vizcaya from excise taxes due to drought. Ugarte y Loyola's salary agreed on and sent to him. Arce sent to provincias as sargent. Ugarte y Loyola thanks virrey for salary. Various officers are promoted and sent to new posts. (D. J. Summary
Expediente, accompanied by several cover sheets, containing letters to and from Ugarte concerning funds for maintaining peace with Comanches, Yutas, and Navajos and for use in fighting various Apache groups. Mention of 6000 pesos reserved annually for use of governor of Nueva Mexico for these purposes. Other horses, mules, carbines, medals, ammunition, cloth, glass beads, steel knives, etc.; salaries of Indian leaders; arms to be given to Comanches; weapons obtained by Indians from Luisiana; orders from Ugarte to Beregana regarding remission of funds from Chihuahua to Anza; orders from Ugarte to Anza regarding receipt and use of funds; medals to be awarded to various Indian leaders includes Anza's response to Ugarte's orders and acknowledgement of receipt of annual funds for 1787. Additional responses from Anza's successor (Concha) concerning Anza's overspending and asking for an additional 2000 pesos to cover excess. Mention of campaigns against Apaches.
