An interesting case which provides some insight into cross-cultural attitudes toward marital relations. The case concerns the murder of one Indian by another, the quarrel revolving around a woman. Testimony is provided through interpreters; the sentence was death by hanging; and records of the execution order (in the public Plaza) are included. (C. Needham) (1975)

Joseph Sapiain is brought prisoner to Parral because of his continued ilicita amistad with Maria Luisa Campa. He had previously been held prisoner in San Bartholome for the same delito. He and Maria Luisa have been enjoying their ilicita amistad for 7? Yrs, and have 3 daughters, ages 10, 7, and 2. Antonio Sapian (son of Joseph) and Cayetano obtain the release of Joseph under the conditions that Joseph leave the Jurisdiccion and never return.
