Summary
847 people Bacum, cocrit. Notes that although Yaquis once most valiant enemies Spanish, now peacefully reduced. States some pueblos have lost many people to epidemics, emigration to mines, many of whom have practically abandoned Yaqui country. Pueblos more populous in past. Speak cahita, same as Sinaloa tribes. Many muy ladinos, living in flat-roofed houses, in policia christiana (according to Christian rules). (T. Sheridan) (1976)

People speak Hore (Opata dialect), dress well, live in flat-roofed houses, raise good harvests maize/wheat, possess adequate churches, religious musical bands. No gentile Indians within Partido, but many Conchos, similar to Sumas, on frontier who came to pueblos to trade. Also near fierce and bellicose nation of Apaches, and New Mexico provinces.
