Viceroy asks Nava to release Columna from position in San Elezeario, so that latter may come to Mexico to be in charge of all official documents from that area. Nava releases Columna. Instructs priests Yaqui area to- 1) ask for suspension if Yaqui chiefs return from Mexico City with order from viceroy to restore their staffs of office, because such order must be confirmed by Audiencia of Guadalajara; 2) use arms of church to prevent Yaqui chiefs from taking possession staffs of office if requests for suspension denied. Believes such action necessary or Yaqui, Mayo areas, entire province Sonora will be lost, christian flock torn to pieces by carniceros lobos. Mentions misery, sad state Yaquis. Exhorts priests to use power excommunication cautiously, to find out what order Yaqui chiefs carry says first.
