Bibliography (Gubernatorial Correspondence)

Series of documents concerning reports on military status of provincias Nueva Vizcaya and Sonora. Documents show charts contrasting figures of military personnel, weapons, ammunition, prisoners, sick soldiers and war casualties. Footnotes in every chart present a list of novedades occurred in the presidios between presidios, need for weapons, inventories of military supplies. Some charts contain lists (figures only), of Indian women, men and children in presidios, agricultural work, horses, mules, troop's check ups, etc. These footnotes are presented in diary form giving the day and the month of the event. Index of documents sent to the viceroy by the governor of Nueva Santander; Maximiliano Maxent captured Serna after the latter deserted from his company; governor gives order to build missions in costas de reinosa, Tijera and Amargosa; governor reports misconduct by Ramon, teniente from Lampazos; Serna is prosecuted in cuartel de Santillana. Series of gubernatorial documents primarily consisting of notifications of receipt of various vandos, letters, Ordenes, copies of documents, etc., not all of which have corresponding documents present, and indexes of correspondence for 1777; some letters include request for more arms to fight Indians and protect vecinos, and list weapons desired; one letter regards Indians killing son and grandson of justicia de la Villa de Laredo who had killed an Indian before; two vandos (not present) acknowledged as received on prohibition of sowing, 3% al tiempo de quintarse; one letter notifies virrey that Echeagaray is setting out to visit populations of Sierra Madre and reconocer los Terrenos senalados para pueblos de indios en su cordillera.
