Tovar sends representative to collect money to pay military company, wants receipts of his expenses during 1769, complains about weapons arriving in bad state. Without money Tovar will build church and feed people without resources, complains about present governor Ripperda and praises last governor Oconor. Detailed account of Rivera's misfortunes. Suspicion of English prowling coast and shooting cannons. Conflict with priests over treatment of Indians. Detailed description of construction of church. Mention of importance to populate las Nuezes, impossibility to take declaration from two natives, importance of examining in detail geography of coast near Bexar, so that it will be easier to pursue Indians and there will be fewer shipwrecks. Summary
Describes death of Indian from San Jose caused by Apaches. Discusses Ripperda's eagerness to take charge of government of Comayagua and impossibility of doing so; Apache raids, trade of weapons, and emphasis on their entrance to Bexar without weapons. Ripperda thanks Bucareli for recommending him as brigadier, also sends his service records. Also extract of letters from Ripperda to Bucareli received on January 13,1777 mentioning mistake of enumeration of letters, auction of contraband goods taken from Vidal, and attack and subsequent killing of 4 Comanches. Also documents discussing in detail items up for auction taken from Vidal and various declarations from witnesses incriminating Vidal. Letters asking for artillery and assigning priest to town of Bucareli. Also mentioning correspondence with Mecieres, peace with Indians, and conflict between Ramos and Cazorla. Summary
Discusses failure of peace treaty promised by Bucareli to inhabitants of Coahuila. Friendship with naciones del Norte has proven to be fraudulent, their entrance to Coahuila must be avoided or better solution must be found. Also discusses possible warfare with inhabitants of new presidios and conflict between Comanches and Lipanes over stolen horses. Description of murder of Vecino and soldier by either Comanches, Apaches, or Tancaoues. Also unsuccessful campaigns against these Indians by a Sergeant. Also refers to harm done by Taranames, Taouacanes, Tancaoues, etc. And doubtful conversion of Taranames. (M. Vasquez, January 1988)
