Castro informs virrey that he has been notified of Nava's nomination to comandante of other provincias and lists instructions received; virrey orders Castro to tell him when he is ready for nomination. Questionnaire from Castro with 11 questions, answers from Nava written in. Castro makes suggestions concerning provincias to virrey, who disagrees. Detailed explanation of history of comandancia general of provincias, why the division, who was in charge, why Nava and Castro are each comandantes of different areas; virrey suggests Castro pay no attention to what he hears in capitol, his instructions will be given when he arrives in Poniente.
