Informes and peticiones regarding the missions in the region of the Apaches. These papers are without dates or signatures. These are five petitions written by fr. Mariano Francisco de los Dolores, four to the capitan, Don Toribio de Urritia and one to the governor and captain general, giving an account of the missions and complaining especially about the misconduct of the Apaches. They were written between the years 1749 and 1751. Three of these are original documents and bear the autograph of fr. Mariano Francisco de los Dolores. The other two are without signatures. This informe gives a day by day description of the depredations and killings committed by the Apaches, and requests firmly that more soldiers be sent to the presidios to guard the missions and the villages under the charge of missionaries. He asks that almenos 80 hombres be sent for their protection, otherwise there is danger that everything will be destroyed.
