Summary
In documents dated March 2, 16 and 24, 1649 we find that Francisco de Icaguirre bought six mules from Francisco de Salas in Durango and that he had them put out to pasture, under the care of Pedro Lopez. Three of the mules have died and Francisco de Icaguierre first accuses Pedro, but a witness appears to state that an Indian whom Pedro had told to oversee the mules is responsible for treating the mules so cruely. Summary
Antonio de Grayia and Tomas Perez are caught capturing and then selling peaceful Indians. Both are muleteers. The Indians are Mansos, 18 of them. Included in the document is the royal cedula pertaining to treatment of barbaric yet peaceful Indians. Antonio and Tomas are fired. Their wagon and mules impounded and released on probation to work for a local merchant. (T. Barnes) (1975)

Summary
In this document Diego is sueing Dona Ana for 140 pesos in payment for a house. Dona Ana in the name of capt. Bartolome rejects the claim (it seems from earlier docmt Film 318 1649c 1373b-1400a that Ana is the widow of Bartolome and faced with claims vs his estate now). Summary
Diego has to sell 2 haciendas for debts owed to Toribio and the state - the inventory is valuable. There were 14 slaves involved - Negroes, mulatos, chinese and Indians. However, this is a story befitting the talents of a Perry Mason. It turns out that goliano is the victim of crime. Fernandez has joined forces with Melchor de Valdez, a.m. to rob goliano. In the course of the investigation (a long one, this document is 470 pages long), a mercury ring is uncovered - Melchor de Valdez has been siphoning it off and selling it to mines - making easier and cheaper for them in return for silver.
