Luis de St. Denis (the Younger) has built house in. What is assumed to be Spanish territory. Documents attempt to prove this. The method used is that when St. Denis was born, his Father requested that a Spanish friar baptise him and the friar has to cross into French territory to do so. Viceroy orders governor of Texas to sell as many cattle as possible, to the French in new Orleans, who are suffering from a lack of meat. French have written to viceroy asking this, apparently after having received no satisfaction from the governor of Texas, who stated there was no extra cattle to be spared. but viceroy orders governor to do so explaining that Spanish have received help from French in new Orleans. To resolve the great disorders adversely affecting the state of livestock, Padron has ordered that Vecino who does not own livestock should not be allowed to kill any within a 30 mile radius of the city. The severity of punishment depends on race- a Spaniard has to pay twenty-five pesos (gold), but a person of color will receive 200 lashes and will be detained. (M. Bowman) (1979)
