Carta de poder by Antonio Valverde y Cosio (Former governor) (Alcalde mayor de El Paso) authorizing Bernardo Olivares to act in his behalf in presenting a Series of questions to witnesses appearing before general Juan Paez Hurtado in Santa Fe. All of this information is relative to a residencia of Valverde y Cosio and is in his favor (defense). Taken by Paez Hurtado, the interrogatorio presents particulars on the favorable reception and treatment given to Juan de Estrada y Austria (Juez) when he came in 1721 to conduct a residencia on the Former gobernadores from Vargas to Martinez. Testimony showed that the then gobernador Valverde y Cosio did not impede the residencia. Witnesses added that Estrada y Austria only conducted the residencia on Flores Mogollon. The originals of the entire proceedings were handed over to Bernardo de Olivares (Valverde's apoderado). (Raul Saba) (1980)

Casados has placed his own mules amongst those of the herd belonging to the presidio. In moving the herd to another place, one of Casados' mules Dies. He files suit against Dios and Medina, demanding payment for the loss. Mogollon, the Juez de residenzia, orders that Dios and Medina pay, since they were the ones who moved the herd. The governor and capitan general issue an order prohibiting the removal of any horses or mules from the herd; the selling or bartering of those animals between soldiers and any person. He talks of steps that need to be taken to protect the herd from the 'infieles Enemigos' - the Indians. The order is passed on to the Alcaldes mayores de Santa Cruz and Alburquerque for public notification. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)

Capitan Juan Uribarri accuses the soldier Jacinto Sanchez of stealing a Mule. Sanchez argues that it was given to him. (R. Saba) (1980)

Per a viceregal order of October 23, 1723 (copy included), gobernador Bustamante questions some of the oldest and most knowledgeable residents concerning illegal commerce with the French. His investigation uncovers no illicit trade having taken place. All witnesses are in agreement. Some details of teniente general Villasur's expedition in 1720 are given. Chayde and Garcia rent twenty mules and post as collateral- Josepha, Mulata slave aged 23, and Joachin, her son, aged 1 year. The brand that marks the ownership of the mules is noted in the Margin. (R. Perez) (1977)

Civil suit filed by Dominguez, Cusiguriachi Miner, against Usalay, demanding delivery of 4 mules, trespaso (transfer) of one Peon, age 25, named Nicolas Lobo. Lobo never identified as a slave. He is transferred, rather than sold. (T. Sheridan) (1976)
