58-informe noting payment of captain Rongel for months February to August by the Veracruz treasury. 59-rongel asks for temporary leave of absence to go to Spain for 3 months due to frequent colic attacks and need to settle the estate of dying Father. 62-rongel petitions for funding beyond three month pay. 63-surgical doctors Nunes and Gomez verify a seven year phlegmonous inflamation of Rongel's palate and throat; includes medical consequences of ailments. Brigadier Garcia conde, who has served over 30 years in remote countries, asks for 3 month leave of absence due to frequent attacks of bad health. He is to be taken to Mexico City for treatment and 3000 pesos is provided for his transport. Cordero is appointed to fill vacancy. (J. Hiller, March 1989)

Concerns payment supposedly owed Jayme Gurza for work done in military Hospital in Texas as surgeon and apothecary, he claims he is owed for work done on both jobs, although he was only payed for being surgeon; his salary of 720 pesos annually in Monclova not enough, but lack of documentation means he cannot receive money; turns out he was lying about amount of time he worked at Former Hospital anyway. Series of letters dealing with medicines needed in the military Hospital of Arispe. Discussion that medicines should be bought in open market (Venta publica). Mention that medicines were sent via Chihuahua, and viceroy responds that they should have gone via los Alamos because it would be cheaper. (J. Tapia, February, 1988)

Series of documents dealing with the visit of Joseph Rivero and two Indian auxiliaries to Mexico while escorting Indian prisoners. One Indian was a soldier, another sent by Ugarte so he could See power of Spaniards and transmit it back to other Indians. There is discussion these 2 Indians did not receive food, money, and clothes from Rivero, that they got food from some other soldiers, and are begging in Mexico. Viceroy orders investigation of these accusations, and orders that clothing and food be given to the Indians. Rivero is ordered to return to Sonora with the 2 Indians, and that he should provide them with horses, food, and clothes. Discussion that Rivero is sick and cannot go back soon to Sonora; he is visited by doctors who confirm illness. Rivero requests loan from real hacienda in order to return; discussion that his Mother will respond for loan. Viceroy mentions to Ugarte that Rivero should not be commissioned on financial matters. Ministers of royal treasury try to recover 500 pesos advanced to Cirujano Navarro to pay for trip from Vera Cruz to Hospital militar in Chihuahua. Garcia conde informes virrey that one-third of Navarro's salary will be withheld by royal treasury in Chihuahua until debt paid. (T. Sheridan, may 1990)

Garay requests retirement with rights of Fuero militar and use of uniform. F. 115 gives service record of Garay with list of companies he served in, ranks held, and campaigns waged. Ff. 115 -116 speaks of action contra rebels at San Andres de Teul and the loss of Zacatecas. Important facts stated concerning action at Zacatecas. Number of participants and armaments given. Dr. Muns verifies illness and describes it as escurbuto sifilitico. Symptoms of illness described. Cure prescribed by Muns. F. 118 is an important letter written by Garay in which he speaks of Hidalgo contubieron la insurrecion promovida Por el infame Hidalgo.
