Jose Garcia, indio native of Chihuahua, age 28, is accused of (1) entering the bedroom of Juana, and (2) the next day, pelting her with stones. He confesses, saying that regarding the 1st offense he was merely checking to See if she was corruptable; and as to the 2nd, he mistook her and her companions for thieves. Primero, the lady's Husband doesn't press charges, saying, in effect, that to forgive is divine. (R. Perez) (1977)

Juana Ginobes caught Lazaro Estrada, her servant and baker, in illicit concubinage (ilisita amistad) with a neighbor woman. Lazaro, an Indian, twice beat Juana when she demanded that he cease this shameful action. Lazaro is sentenced to three months in prison doing hard labor in the mines. (R. Perez) (1977)

Medina, a surgeon, has been imprisoned for mistreating his wife. His possessions are to be impounded; the justicia mayor makes this inventory. (R. Perez) (1977)

Another in a long Series of complaints of illicit cohabitation (ilicita amistad), this one notable for the ethnic combinations involved, Rosalia (a Loba) is married to Thomas (a mulato slave), but is Charged with illegal friendship with Juan, an Indian. (R. Perez) (1977)

Marriage and burial costs. Differentiated as follows- marriages of Spaniards (19 pesos 4 reales), marriage of mestizos, mulatos (9 pesos 4 reales). Burial of adult Spaniards (13 pesos); Young Spaniards (9 pesos 4 reales); adult mestizos, mulatos and Negros (11 pesos 4 reales); Young mestizos (6 pesos 4 reales). (R. Perez) (1977)

Vicencio Cortes del rey sells Esclava mulata- Josepha Morales- to Antonia de Amparan for 300 pesos. Before the transfer of title is completed. Valerio Cortes del rey (Brother of Vicencio) appears with 300 pesos and demands the liberty of Maria Josepha, as he wants to marry her. It develops Valerio obtained the 300 pesos from Maria Josepha, who stole them from Fransisco Colza. The case then changes status from civil to criminal. It is not resolved. (P. Hayes) (1977)

Jose de Valenzuela, a mulato Blanco who passed as a mestizo, is banished from Parral, never to come within 100 leagues. All because he was caught in his lover's house by her grandfather, both of good Spanish blood. The hue and cry raised was due more to Jose's ethnic situation rather than for any crime he committed.
