Summary
Legalistic- shows residential restraints the Indians lived under. Good. Tributary races cannot move without proper certificatos. On the frontier no one may move owing to Apache menace. No fees can be Charged for the certificates. Indians cannot remain on haciendas and Ranchos to work indefinitely but must return to their town priests. Indians who do not comply to be arrested as vagrants and given 20 lashes for 1st offense, 40 for second and year of hard labor for 3rd. For others 1st offense is 2 Months, 2nd 4 month and 3rd 10 years military service on frontier. (T.n.) (1975)

Documents concerning Coaguileno, Cabesa, Cocoyome Indians (24 Gandules) who escaped from a Collera (chain gang) deporting Indians from el Pasaje presidio to Mexico City and raided, murdered on their way back to their home territory around Parras in Coaguila. Chain gang never reached Mexico City, Indians escaped at Paraje de Cuesta Blanca de Barrera and several made their way to Volcan de Orisaba. Many escapees killed along the way. Includes interrogation of Diego de la Cruz Pacheco, Coaguileno and one of the escapees, now imprisoned in Parral. (T.
