Lays down numerous regulations concerning Indians. Orders patrols 3 times a week- once by 4 presidial soldiers, other times by Indians themselves- to guard against hostile Indians. Fray Isamende petitions gobernador for military escort to protect him while he rounds up pacao, azcahoma Indians, numbering 1737, of whom 88 are Christian, who fled mission after Former gobernador Franquis withdrew 3 soldiers stationed there. Basterra (12/2/1737) orders detachment from Espiritu Santo presidio to accompany Isamende. 9 man escort from San Antonio presidio helps Isamende gather 24 souls back to the fold. Isamende notes mission population of Espada in 1739. Fray Santa Ana notes that thacome Indians, los Mas inconstantes de la tribu y Muy del genio de los panpopas , joined Espada mission in 1736. Responding to viceroy's request, Colonel Juan Joseph Massani presents report on state of missionization of Moqui province. Both he and governor Flores Mogollon feel Franciscan efforts are worthy and reject request of Agustin de Campos (s.j) to allow Jesuits in area.

Joseph Gomes, Rosalia de Valdes, Juan Manuel de Herera, Roque Jaramillo (residents of the Paraje del Rio del Oso) complain to Juan Estevan Garsia (Alcalde mayor of Santa Clara) about Yutas attacks on their cattle. Complaint forwarded to Cruzat y Gongora (gobernador) who order them to a junta de guerra. Resolved to punish Yutes. Unsuccessful as Yutes had broken camp before Spaniards arrived.
