Summary
Discussion of withdrawing the segunda compania de Voluntarios de Cataluna (companias de ynfanteria ligera de cataluna appears to have been another name for this troop) from the presidios of Norte, San Elezeario, and Carrizal. Also increasing the pay of men who would be willing to stay instead of returning to Spain; replacing those who want out; moving it to different areas within Mexico; etc. Ff.195 contains biographical information about Guillermo Peregrina and Pasqual de Cisneros. Ff.197 and 203 contain biographical information about Tomas Wading. Ff. 201 contains biographical information about Francisco Albares. Perera was demoted from sargento Segundo to ultimo soldado for some unnamed delitos. Periodic, general discussion of the costs involved in running a military unit, including the men's pay. On ff.236-237 Josef Aguilar asked to be released from military service. Ff.238 is chart of proposed pay increases. Ff.239-240 mention of the cost of purchasing horses and mules. (S. Tueros informs of material conditions of his provincia Coahuila --fertility of land, livestock, troops, enemies, and provisions for defense. Notes that military salaries inadequate for care of horses, transport of provisions for campaigns, clothing. Remarks that conditions are miserable for such honorable obligations. Hostile enemies are Apache Mescaleros although Lipanes have also enriching companies with apt officials; augment four companies to 120 men each; and provide good salaries. (J. Hiller, may 1989)

Summary
Documents concerning information given from Garcia to virrey dealing with negotiations of gobernador from Nueva Mexico with the Comanches; relacion signed by the Cura Barraza containing the names of the Indian rebels who receive royal pardon and place they will settle. Relacion contains name of the rebel, where he is from, name of his Father, occupation, age, and rank within the rebel organization. Letter from Romero for Lomban informing him of a campaign against Apaches and deplorable situation of military armaments, some soldiers had to throw stones at Apaches. Romero reports to Lomban a baston that was taken from two dead Apaches and was supposed to belong to an Apache chief; letter from Lomban for virrey explaining that the troops of the north are weak in armaments.
