Bando by gobernador prohibiting the sale of horses, arms and other military equipment by soldiers of Santa Fe presidio. The Bando also prohibits the residents from buying those items from the soldiers. Various penalties established. (Raul Saba) (1980)

Gobernador Bustamante commissions Juan Paez Hurtado to find out why Martin Hurtado resigns from alcaldia mayor of Albuquerque leaving the office in hands of sargento mayor Alphonso Rael and seeks sanctuary in the church of San Francisco (Albuquerque). Depositions include account of small Apache campaign. An exchange of letters from Mexico figures into the proceedings as does Former gobernador Valverde. Quintana accuses Truxillo of stealing two of his horses, and starts legal proceedings against him. With the ensuing investigation, however, it turns out that the horses were taken by two Indian youths, one of them a servant of Truxillo's, who were attempting to flee to another area. Eventually, Truxillo and Quintana come to a settlement, at the behest of Mogollon, who also orders that the Indians be Charged with paying the cost of the suit, both legal and personal, by laboring for a number of years, Andres for his master, Truxillo; and, Xptobal, under captain Balverde, in whose custody he is placed. The governor and capitan general issue an order prohibiting the removal of any horses or mules from the herd; the selling or bartering of those animals between soldiers and any person. He talks of steps that need to be taken to protect the herd from the 'infieles Enemigos' - the Indians. The order is passed on to the Alcaldes mayores de Santa Cruz and Alburquerque for public notification. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)

To study conditions of settlers and especially presidiales in New Mexico in response to letters for aid from gobernador general. Details deplorable conditions and makes recommendations to king.
