Series of concise letters between Nava and virrey covering granting of travel allowance to Garibay, inauguration of diputacion de Mineria, retirement of Arce, granting of military escort to Leon for conducting of botanical studies in Sonora, moving of bishopric of Nuevo Leon to Monterrey, establishment of presidio at San Fernando, collection of Alcavala, and transfer of Vial from Nueva Mexico to Luisiana. Letter to viceroy with account by Gallardo of exploration in California, pacification of Indians, discovery of los Angeles bay, establishment and construction of Santa Gertrudis mission; his return and imprisonment by capitan of garrison in conjunction with two missionaries and his ruin when captain of garrison stole his papers and wife's jewelry; missionaries promised him death if truth was ever known. Planning and settlement of port of Guaymas and Rio Yaqui as Principal areas for commerce and trade. Conquest thru war and pacification of Seris and Pimas Altos; detailed ethnography. After achieving these goals expedition to resume exploration up Rio Gila establishing town on banks preferably near Colorado River to serve as capital of Gila province; study natural resources in detail; find mines and other natural riches to attract settlers; wage war against Apaches to secure lands and make possible fluvial navigation. Area should serve as protection to other settlements to east and south of province. Letters about arrival of visitador general Galvez to Sonora on his way to California. (A.
