Summary
Letter from Valladolid to virrey informing him of the Diezmos collected in the Rio Verde missions, who the administrators of haciendas are, and the amount of money received in the year 1773 and 1774. An account is sent from Guadalaxara to the virrey on the Diezmos for Nuevo Reyno de Leon. In another letter Noriega writes the virrey giving an accounting of Diezmos from 1770 and the name of the administrator of hacienda. The governor of Nuevo Santander answers the virrey saying he will respect the the territorial divisions of the church. The royal Caxas de San Luis Potosi are notified from Belena to charge the derecho de Mesada to the Linares parish. Belena, the auditor for the virrey, appears to make most of the decisions, hiring persons to make the maps, hire scribes and investigators in the establishment of the new bishopric and cathedral for the Nuevo Reyno de Leon. Summary
Accountant from Nuevo Reyno de Leon requests information from virrey on the matter of the death of Garcia Davila. Letter from the king to the virrey giving instructions concerning the death of Garcia Davila, the title, and the Diezmos from the church of Guadalaxara and Valladolid. Bentura is commissioned to make the division of the villages for the new church in Linares and for the church of Guadalaxara and Valladolid. Costanso is commissioned to make the maps of the new territorial division that are going to be sent to ministers of the churches, gobernadores, and Caxas reales. The bishops write virrey giving misinformation of the villages under their respective churches. Later the bishops accept the new division of territory established by the engineer. (D. All of the informes complain of the behavior of the bishop. A letter to the virrey informing him of the confiscation of all that belonged to Bustamante and an accounting of those goods. Letter from capitan de hoyos to Gonzalez de Santianez, requesting advice on the problems of collecting the Diezmos for the construction of the new Obispado. Santianes then appeals to the virrey for advice. The bishop de Guadalaxara complains to virrey of the administrator Muniz's methods of collecting Diezmos. Church of Valladolid also complains of the method of collection. Areche writes a synopsis of the conflicts and requests a rapid response from the virrey to solve the problem. (D. Official hacedores give virrey a history of past royal decrees related to Diezmos for the years 1544 to 1769 for the abbey of panuco. Areche gives information on the instructions for collection of Diezmos for the construction of the cathedral and report in October 20, 1774 of a royal meeting of fiscales on the progress made in establishing the new bishoric. Archbishop of Mexico reports to the virrey that he will obey his request to send his part of Diezmos for the establishment of the bishopric. Reales Caxas de San Luis Potosi and the bishop of Michoacan acknowledge tehir part in collection of Diezmos for the new bishopric. (D. Bautista, January 1990)
