Goicoechea investigates desertion from Santa Barbara by soldiers Rochin and Lugo (defended by Arguello) andontiberos and Valdez (defended by Olivera). Lugo and Valdez are to continue in company of Santa Barbara while Rochin and Ontiberos were given four extra years of service and transfer to San Francisco. Includes repetitive interrogations and physical descriptions of Valdez, Ontiberos, Lugo, Rochin. Short, unrelated commentary by Fages on resistence by Yumas met upon crossing land from California to Sonora. (J. Hiller, December 1988)
