Summary
Pedro Lopez, soldier, is on trial for desertion, having been absent without permission. He is taken prisoner and made to appear before the governor. Lopez explains that the reason for his absence is that his horse Ran away, fully saddled, and was gone for three days. The governor frees Lopez, with a stern warning against any repetition, and the stipulation that he must serve in two campaigns; in the first one, at his own expense. (Lloyd Kendall) (1980)
