Summary
Flores orders Ugarte to force Mescaleros to comply with conditions or face war. Concerns relations with other tribes and progress of various campaigns. Describes financial and political conditions of Mescalero agreement. Ugarte concerned with hostilities in Nueva Vizcaya due to extended frontier and dispersed troops. Ugalde requests relocation of troops to his jurisdiction. Flores asks Ugarte to place Rengel in command Sonoran troops during his absence. Concerns appropriate behavior of soldiers and reminders for proper treatment of peaceful Indians. Flores recognizes difficulties between Ugarte and Ugalde and asks them to cooperate. Gives approval for Gileno surrender providing conditions established. Description campaigns led by Echeagaray. Both men praised and Echeagaray promoted. Flores orders establishment of camp in Gila to reunite troops. Mention of warring tribes in area. Flores agrees that loyal spies essential to success of campaigns, loyalty will be rewarded and untrustworthy Mescaleros will not be conceded peace without complete approval. (M.
