Capitan de milicias (retirado) Prudencio Chavez died January 21, 1802. Nemerio Salcedo (commandante general) (Chihuahua) appoints capitan Ygnacio marquez as interventor de Bienes. Included is Chavez will, exhaustive inventarios de Bienes, and the division of property amongst the heirs. On frame 0311 there is a diagramatic illustration of the Chavez family. Continuation of case from Film 318-1801- 0309-0413. Ygnacia Josefa Alarcon appears before the real juzgoda de alzadas de Mineria in Guadalajara to appeal her case against dn Joaquin Rosas for ownership of 6 Barras de Mina. She dismisses Pereyra because he is incompetent and takes on Vallarta as her defensor. The tribunal in Guadalajara says they can't hear the case because a verdict was never reached in Parral. They send her and the case back to Parral with instructions for the tribunal of Parral to maintain her. The folks in Parral assign an interventor for the Mina Todos Santos. Ignacio Josefa de Alarcona, on behalf of her incompetent Husband (espanol) and 9 minor daughters claims Joaquin Rosas owes her 4 bars of the Mina Todos Santos. She says an indio Juan Nicolas told her of a mine. She in turn told her Husband who promptly found it, along with Jose elojo Andrade (Defunto). Her Husband then gives the mine to Rosas in exchange for some material goods (listed in document), keeping 4 bars for his wife. Rosas never lived up to the terms of the agreement. His counsel cites the royal decree that no mine can be reclaimed after 90 days and that no court Inferior to the rey can rule otherwise. The juezes of Batopilas, however continue to hear the case, despite the fact that the tribunal de Mineria had upheld the ruling that only the rey could decide the case. Ramon Duran and his wife were looking for their Burro one evening when they came across Clemente Veedor apparently committing bestiality with a Burra. Duran and his wife called in some neighbors who witnessed Veedor buttoning up his pants. Although four witnesses corroborate durans evidence, Veedor denies all charges and the Alcalde is unable to pass a sentence. He passes the case on to Francisca Jose de Urrutia, who responds the case against Veedor isn't strong because the principle witness is an indio. At the end of the document Veedor, after 18 months in prison, is looking for a new lawyer. (P. Hayes) (1977)

Testimony concerning a large gathering (over 40) of Yaquis and Spaniards of both sexes in los yaquez, a Barrio of Rayo. Drinking and gambling were taking place. It is noted that such occurrences are continuous in this Barrio. The Indian governor and other officials were involved. (R. Perez) (1977)

Ordinances concerning- discharging of firearms, gambling, regulation of livestock sales, vagrancy, loitering, drunkenness, no fandangos in the suburbs or other indecent houses, no frivolity during holy observances, and a leash law. (R. Perez) (1977)

Detailed account of all financial transactions of the hacienda for the year 1799. Each employee is listed, with his position and salary (in the form of wage and rations) and his debts (advances of goods). Also contains the earnings of the hacienda from its produce and the mill. Gives specific details for- earnings of the alhondiga; taxes on cattle, liquor; proceeds from fruit, fish, Chile and other minutiae; land sales taxes. 0537-0572- cuaderno no.8 de las Cuentas de la hacienda de Santiago Por el Ano de 1796. 0574-0601- cuaderno de raziones que Se Dan en la hacienda de Santiago en el Ano de 1792.
