Ff.398-400 are copy of informe from the king discussing need to crack down on vice in New Spain; include list of all crimes that must cease, especially insurgence. Ff.379-382 discuss establishment of presidio at San Fernando to protect pueblos, haciendas in area against Indians. Ff. 383-386 concern Boeta y Salazar's proposal to raise compania de realistas of 50 men at his own cost to defend Altamira. Ff.387-388 are posthumous retirement of Lopez; includes form signed yo el rey. ff.389-392 concern Villamil's promotion from gobernador de Nuevo Leon to gobernador Cumplido en america with increased salary. Letters approving travel out of Veracruz for various people. F.315 mentions merchant frigate cinco hermanos on which Villamil will sail. Ff.316-320 are citations, detailed service records for retirement of Barrera. 320-323 concern financial transactions of Gutierrez (vague; apparently he is buying political favors). (A. Letters by Arreola, Arredondo concerning organization of patriot forces against rebels. F.112 begins discussion of art of war, practical applications toward defeating rebels; list of loyal troops, count of men in each totaling 11,000, from Almagres, Comanches and allies, regular troops and auxiliaries, private forces of Gutierrez y Seroi and maritionez. F.113 speaks of threat of attack by English or English-supported rebels at Victoria; fear of invasion planned by English agents in new Orleans, points northeast. F.115 mentions war with creeks, battle of alabama. F.118 describes appointing Vidai captains, menion destruction of ships of gavilla de ori at Matagorda; list of Indian tribes willing to support patriots in war. Interesting, informative documents. Ff.82-98 concern official reaction to revolutionaries led by Hidalgo, Allerde. Mentions group of bandits composed of Gutierrez, Spanish emigrants to U.s., some English-americans, supporters of revolution as main threat to security. Copies of letters organizing counter-revolution, appointing Sambrano as presidente de la junta de la contrarevolucion. Mentions Saltillo as hotbed of unrest. (A. Dean, November 1989)

Series of documents concerning misunderstanding between Nava and Revilla Gigedo on relationship between New Spain and Provincias Internas. much discussion between viceroy and other government officials concerning collection of taxes from Provincias Internas with respect to real hacienda and tribunal de Cuentas. it is agreed upon that real hacienda in Mexico will continue to be in charge of taxes from Provincias Internas. the king as well as other government officials are informed of this decision.
