Per a viceregal order of October 23, 1723 (copy included), gobernador Bustamante questions some of the oldest and most knowledgeable residents concerning illegal commerce with the French. His investigation uncovers no illicit trade having taken place. All witnesses are in agreement. Some details of teniente general Villasur's expedition in 1720 are given. This is the complete testimony made by Don Pedro Fages and sent to comander de Croix, of the Indian uprising along the Colorado River which resulted in the deaths of the two missionaries, fr. Juan Diaz and fr. Joseph Mathias Moreno. Although not the original, it is a faithful copy signed by Pedro Fages himself at Monte rey. (microfilm catalog)
