Summary
Auto de guerra and two accompanying letters of petition recounting attacks and destruction against Jicarilla Apaches by Cumanchas. The gobernador outlines the case against the Cumanchas and establishes a junta de guerra - the members of which give their opinions as to the initiation of a campaign against the Cumanchas. The majority are in favor of defending and avenging the Jicarillas, loyal vassals of the crown - though not yet christians. Important letter by Juan Paez Hurtado outlining danger of Cumanchas and their warlike history. Gobernador Bustamante orders campaign and appoints capitan Antonio Perez Velarde to lead it. Ms mentions Yutas are Allied with Cumanchas and there is fear of more alliances. (Raul Saba) (1980)

Summary of II specific charges and sentencia in residencia of Former gobernador Felix Martines. He is accused of abuse of authority in criminal Cases, mistreatment of soldiers regarding pay, conflict of interests, insubordination and misconduct in Indian campaigns. The Juez receptor, Antonio Bezerra Nieto, absolved Martines of some charges, declared him guilty on others, and referred others to the viceroy. Overall the judgement was unfavorable to Martines. Summary
Carta de poder by Antonio Valverde y Cosio (Former governor) (Alcalde mayor de El Paso) authorizing Bernardo Olivares to act in his behalf in presenting a Series of questions to witnesses appearing before general Juan Paez Hurtado in Santa Fe. All of this information is relative to a residencia of Valverde y Cosio and is in his favor (defense). Taken by Paez Hurtado, the interrogatorio presents particulars on the favorable reception and treatment given to Juan de Estrada y Austria (Juez) when he came in 1721 to conduct a residencia on the Former gobernadores from Vargas to Martinez. Testimony showed that the then gobernador Valverde y Cosio did not impede the residencia. Witnesses added that Estrada y Austria only conducted the residencia on Flores Mogollon. The originals of the entire proceedings were handed over to Bernardo de Olivares (Valverde's apoderado). (Raul Saba) (1980)
