Discusses Carichic church and notes that more than 1000 pesos of silver stolen 2 years ago. Mentions need for corn to feed Indians. Review of financial and accounting abuses of Jesuits in California, Sonora, Pimeria and Nayarit. Contains a number of specific accusations against Jesuits for fraud and states that over a period of 70 years they embezzled more than one million pesos from the real hacienda. Basarte bases many of his accusations on the letters of padre Balthasar (or Baltasar) to padre general Retz which strongly indicate fraud within the Jesuit hiearchy. (D. Miller) (1978)

Campos argues against Crespo's proposed route to Moqui (Hopi) pueblos via Chihuahua and Nueva Mexico, proposing instead he travel north from Jesuit Pima missions. Argues that Jesuits with their bases in Sonora better able to missionize the Hopis. Claims Hopis have requested Jesuits, not Franciscans. Notes his own and General Bezerra's plans to visit Moqui in 1723 via San Simon, Gila River. (T. Sheridan) (1979)

Includes Series of letters and testimonios exchanged between fiscal-king-priests- and other officials concerning possible fraud in the use of funds for food, travel and salary by Jesuits of presidio Loreto. Includes specific amounts of monies given to priests, also states that priests at Loreto took money. For the maintenance of non-existant presidios and non-existant labor. (D. Miller) (1978)

Chronological description of an expedition undertaken with the purpose of enlarging Spanish influence in the province of Texas. This expedition was sent a result of French involvement in that area. The author puts great emphasis on the types of vegetation (ie, Mezquites, Alamos, Sabinos, Robles, Nogales, etc.) and animals (deer, rabbit and a detailed description of the Zibolo or toro Mexicano) found on their way. Describes the re-establishment of previously abandoned missions and the incentives given to the Indians to live around them. A 'cedula' of the king (included at the end of the document) forbids them to make war against the French while on this expedition. (E. Klien) (1978)

Statement of accusations against Jesuits most concern misappropriation of funds and misstatement of expenses, ie. Number of Carpinteros, Soldados, marineros working for Jesuits was falsified. Gives description of how some money was mis-used by priests for personal (items, ie. Carne, maiz, Chocolate). Most important aspect is a number of accounting entries which show the exact amount of pesos paid to Jesuits for a variety of reduction expenses. (D. Miller) (1978)
