Baltimore County, Maryland. Death: Nov. 29, 1933; Benson, Cochise County, Arizona. From the San Pedro Valley News, Benson, Arizona, December 1, 1933: DR. R. E. YELLOTT OF BENSON PASSED AWAY WEDNESDAY. Dr. Richard Emory Yellott of Benson died at his home in this city Wednesday following a short illness. He had a medical practice which extended widely over Southern Arizona, which has been built up since he located in the state in 1922. Dr. Yellott was born in Maryland in 1875. He attended the elementary schools in that state and then was graduated from St. John's college at Annapolis and later from the medical college of South Carolina. He set up a practice in St. Stephens, South Carolina, where he remained six years. Then he returned to Maryland where he remained for five years. During the war he was commissioned lieutenant and then captain in the medical corps and was stationed at several camps in the United States. After the war he came to Arizona. He was county health officer Cochise county and city health officer of Benson. He was also district surgeon of the Southern Pacific railroad. Dr. Yellott was a member of the Masonic lodge, the Knights of Pythian, the American Medical association, the American Legion and the Old Pueblo club of Tucson. He leaves his widow and two daughters, Mrs. Edward K. Dunham, Jr., and Miss Eleanor C. Yellott, and one son, Richard Yellott, who is attending Military academy in California. Funeral services were held at Grace Episcopal church in Tucson yesterday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, largely attended by loving friends and associates from Benson, after which the body was taken to Phoenix.
