In 1908 after six years in the government medical service, he settled in that city where he now controls a large and growing practice. He was born in Kansas in 1870 and acquired his early education in the public schools, later entering the University Medical College of Kansas City, Missouri and gradating from that institution with the degree of M.D. in 1899. Two years later he came to Arizona as a physician in the government Indian service and did a great deal of capable work on the Western Navajo reservation in Blue Canyon and later in various other parts of the west. In 1904 he was sent to the Oraibi Hopi Indian reservation in Arizona and he remained there until 1907 when he resigned from the government service and came to Kingman, where he has since resided. In 1900 Dr. Tilton married Miss Laura M. Estle, of Louisburg, Kansas and both are well known in social circles of Kingman.

J Am Med Assoc, Jun 1905; XLIV: 2000: MAY TAPEWORM INFECTION BE CAUSED BY DRIED BEEF? In our reply to "Inquirer" in regard to the above question, published in this department, June 10, page 1872, we made an absurd blunder. Scores of letters have been received criticising the answer given, but we can give space to the following only : Truxton, Ariz., June 14, 1905. To the Editor : In The Journal of June 10 "Inquirer" asks : "Can dried or 'jerked' beef infect the human alimentary canal with the tapeworm larvae as does raw beef?" In reply, you speak of trichinoe, an altogether different organism. The question of the transmittal of tapeworm larva? is one in which I have been and am greatly interested. During several years in the U. S. Indian service I have seen many cases of tapeworm.... Albert L. Tilton, M.D., U. S. Indian Service.

J Am Med Assoc, Dec 1911; LVII: 2070: Dr.. A. L. Tilton, Kingman, Ariz.: In the desert country of Arizona we use a great deal of condensed milk. We use it because it is, in a large number of cases, the only thing we can get. Although there are many cattle ranches in Arizona, a cattle ranch is the last place in the world where you can find milk because there is not sufficient grass near the ranch houses for the cattle to be well fed. Hence we have adopted condensed milk as the least evil, and in my limited experience in its use I have seen but one case of scurvy, and in that case no orange juice had been used. I do not think I would have permitted the use of condensed milk but for the fact that it had already been used there with success. [Part of discussion following this article: FRANK C. NEFF.
