Stump, who located in Winslow in 1928 has gained recognition as a capable and trustworthy physician and is enjoying a steadily increasing practice. He was born in Falls City, Nebraska, on the 30th day of May 1902 and is a son of Clem and Abbie (Melvin) Stump, of whose nine children he is the seventh in order of birth. One of his older brothers, F.M. Stump is a practicing physician in northern California. His father left Nebraska in 1908 and took his family to Phoenix Arizona where he is now living retired. Robert M. received his early education in the grade and high schools of Phoenix after which he entered Pacific Union College at San Francisco from which he was graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Arts. He spent two years in the College of Medical Evangelists at San Bernardino and two years in the Los Angeles branch in that college from which he was graduated in 1927. He served one year as intern in the White Memorial Hospital in Los Angeles completing his service there on June 30, 1928. He passed the National Board examination over a period of three years, the last year of which was in the clinic in the Los Angeles General Hospital and the City Health Office. He entered the practice of his profession in the Sante Fe Railroad Hospital in Los Angeles and in 1928 came to Winslow as local surgeon for the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad which position he still holds. On July 1 he was made first lieutenant of the R.O.T. Corps. The Doctor has a nicely furnished and well equipped office. Dr. Stump married Mabel Chapman and they are the parents of a daughter, Abbie Joyce. His religious connection is with the Seventh Day Adventist Church. He belongs to the Winslow Rotary Club and is a member of the Navajo-Apache Counties Medical Society, the Arizona State Medical Society and is a Fellow of the American Medical Association.
