For meritorious service in supervising and aiding in the organization for the evacuation of the wounded, Major Brendan P. Phibbs, formerly of Winnetka, Ill., was recently awarded the Bronze Star. As a surgeon with the headquarters of the combat command battalion of the 12th Armored Division, Major Phibbs frequently exposed himself to enemy fire to see that evacuation was accomplished expeditiously and by the safest routes. Dr. Phibbs graduated from Northwestern University Medical School, Chicago, in 1942 and entered the service in June 1942.
